The tors explored are chosen for the variety of walk they offer and the exciting scenery.

John Earle has lived on Dartmoor since 1948. Formerly a headmaster, mountaineer and explorer, he became a familiar face on television in a long career as a presenter, broadcaster and scriptwriter. A Fellow ofThe Royal Geographical Society Alpine Club, an expedition leader and cameraman, he is also author of various mountaineering books, film scripts and walking guides for Dartmoor, Exmoor and Cornwall.
