AUTHOR: Rod Newbolt-Young
Live for the Day

  • Reviews

Rod Newbolt-Young has led a life packed with excitement and service. A sickly child, he became a full-time professional soldier, and added flying, parachuting, gliding, climbing and sailing to his list of accomplishments.

Marriage led to a change in career as a farmer in Devon with a sideline in agricultural helicopter flying and soldiering with the Territorial Army.

All of these pursuits have led Rod to a number of true adventures and misadventures, childhood narrow escapes, sinking boats, free-fall mishaps, flying incidents, farm accidents and more.

Each episode is a story in itself, with the sheer number and frequency of near disasters that Rod has experienced and survived, verging on the incredible.

In a nutshell, the author has been incredibly fortunate to have survived as long as he has, whether that be down to good luck, or to his family and the support of those around him. But he has been blessed with an incredible spirit of survival, no matter what the predicament, and that shines through the pages of this fascinating autobiography of a remarkable and very fortunate man.

Rod Newbolt-Young was born in 1948 into a family with a long history of Army service. He has variously been a soldier, pharmaceutical representative, and farmer, as well as a sailor, climber and pilot. He is married, with four stepdaughters and one daughter and lives on Dartmoor.
