Suffolk Coast from the Air 2
Suffolk Coast from the Air 2
  • Description
  • Reviews

Once again Mike Page has come up trumps with a superb selection of aerial photographs to please the many fans of his ‘From the Air’ series of books. Following on the success of his earlier Suffolk Coast from the Air comes a completely new set of images ranging along the coast from Felixstowe to Lowestoft.

In Suffolk Coast from the Air 2 there is particular coverage of recent works employed to mitigate the effects of erosion that threaten the coastline, causing greater damage from year to year. The importance of aerial photography in highlighting the perils faced as a result of the encroaching sea is vividly displayed in these fascinating images, with comparisons made between those areas which have sea defenses and those which do not. Many of the smaller towns and villages are included. Pauline Young’s text adds further interest to each image, pointing out aspects that may not be immediately apparent, along with sites of particular importance.

There is little doubt that this second book of the Suffolk coast will generate as much interest as the first. As a memento for visitors to these shores, or as reminder to locals of what is best about their county, this new book will prove to be a real treasure.

Mike Page, Gorleston-born, began his working life as a boat builder but in 1973 in partnership with his wife Gillian began a garage business at Strumpshaw, east of Norwich. He's now semi-retired and his son Martin runs the garage, which gives him more time to pursue his flying and photographic interests. He has a considerable library of aerial and wildlife prints which he makes readily available.

PaulineYoung has lived in East Anglia for many years. She writes regularly for magazines and is a published children's author. She first teamed up with Mike Page, whom she has known in a flying context for a long time, when he began providing aerial pictures for her articles about the Norfolk Broads.
