Manchester Pride, a huge Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual and Transgender festival, is held
annually in the north’s great cosmopolitan
city over the August bank holiday
weekend.
A centrepiece of this famous event is the
colourful Saturday parade, which draws
crowds from near and far to gasp at the
spectacular floats and costumes, or to
simply show support for those marching.
Manchester Gay Pride is a glowing visual
record of the event, and the rainbow of
celebrations in and around the city’s
“Gay Village” on that day.
Experience the magic at first-hand as
this book takes you on a whistlestop
tour of key moments, from parade
preparations in sunny Castlefield to
night-time carousing on Canal Street.
In over 140 full colour images, renowned
photographer Ed Swinden, captures the
excitement colour and vibrancy of this
unique occasion.
