This book describes in an easy to follow narrative ten walks found throughout Exmoor National Park.

Suitable for all ages they will give hours of pleasure and enjoyment. A selection of photographs, show some of the landscape that the walks pass through and small snippets of information are highlighted in box form to inspire research and exploration.

The walks start from some of Exmoor’s prettiest villages and hamlets. A brief description of these is given at the beginning of each walk. Historical and archaeological sites are mentioned as well as lora and fauna that might be seen.

This small book is a great accessory and should be put in a pocket or a rucksack on each visit to Exmoor.

The walks which vary from 4 to 9 miles in length are designed to suit the needs of families, groups of friends or individuals looking for a gentle stroll or a longer walk. The ten walks are centred on Horner, Exford, Hunter’s Inn, Dulverton, Withypool, Valley of Rocks, Dunster, Winsford, Simonsbath, and Brendon village.

Leaving Kent and moving to Devon brought the authors in contact with Exmoor where they quickly fell under its spell like many before. As their knowledge of Exmoor grew, so did a large collection of photographic slides. These slides have been used to promote Exmoor with illustrated talks during the forty ive years they have been lucky enough to walk the national park. During that time they were also volunteer guides for the Exmoor National Park Authority for over a decade. This gave them great satisfaction and enjoyment while at the same time making many friends. Now in their retirement years they are still leading guided walks with enthusiasm.

Charles Wood's emotion spring had begun to flow again. It was the ‘Ex’ in Exmoor that made things so disconcerting. Long ago he ceased to refer to the place as ‘it’ but as ‘her’.
