The purpose of this book is to take the reader on a journey to some of the most interesting places on and around the Suffolk Coast. It is not a traditional walks book, its aim is to encourage a spirit of exploration and to provide visual inspiration, through the author’s superb photography, for discovering more about the beautiful and historic coastal landscape of Suffolk.

It is a coast well known for its quiet beauty, with a mix of seaside resorts, ports, hidden beaches and coves, river estuaries, heaths and forests. There is plenty to explore and discover.

The principal places covered are:

The River Stour • Shotley Peninsula and River Orwell • Ipswich • Felixstowe • Bawdsey • Shingle Street •Woodbridge • Sutton Hoo • Orford Ness • Snape • Aldeburgh and Thorpeness • Leiston and Minsmere • Dunwich • Walberswick • Blythburgh • Southwold • Cove Hithe, Kessingland • Lowestoft

A lively text and many wonderful photographs provide endless ideas for walking trips into the countryside, towns and villages, while for the armchair explorer there is also much to enjoy in this new addition to the acclaimed Halsgrove Discover Series.

Philip Morgan is a writer/photographer who contributes regularly to regional newspaper and magazines including both Suffolk Life and Norfolk Life. He also sells his photographs for use in calendars. Philip previously studied law for five years but decided to take up writing seriously as something that had long been a passion.
