Sussex is a land of diversity. Dramatic escarpments, rolling farmland, drowsy creeks, cosmopolitan seaside towns, ancient hill forts, majestic river valleys, lush woodlands, and towering chalk cliffs – Sussex has it all. It is no surprise then that millions of visitors each year are drawn to visit the many charms of this uniquely combined county.

For the casual observer, East and West Sussex offer an astonishing variety of landscapes. But for those who look a little closer, Sussex is even more generous in its rewards, and can compete with any location in the United Kingdom for its sheer beauty and drama, and its continuing capacity to beguile.

The South Downs Way,The Wealdway, The Vanguard Way, and many other public pathways, criss-cross the counties and provide access to surprisingly wild and open countryside in an otherwise well-populated part of the United Kingdom. No surprise then that walkers, cyclists, outdoor adventurers, and photographers alike, are drawn from far and wide to enjoy this remarkable county.

Sussex – Loving It! is the first book of former UK Landscape Photographer of the Year, Gary Eastwood. Beautifully produced, this book offers more than 50 majestic panoramic images capturing brooding sunsets, misty dawns, swirling mists and tranquil dusks, captured over four seasons in the life of Sussex.

Gary Eastwood is a journalist-turned photographer, who came to photography relatively late. Gary now works as a professional photographer covering weddings, events and portraits. His first love, though, is landscape photography and, in 2008, he was honoured to be named Take-a-View UK Landscape Photographer of theYear. The award was doubly satisfying, as it was awarded by one of Gary’s own landscape photography inspirations, Charlie Waite.

Gary is now making up for lost time, shooting landscapes throughout the UK and Europe for a variety of projects, publications, magazines, stock libraries and art galleries. Sussex – Loving It! represents Gary’s first book project, but is unlikely to be the last, as his reputation as a landscape photographer with a unique vision grows.
